Shaktify

Thursday, March 29, 2012
Dear Friends,

We are in the middle of the spring navaratri, the nine nights for Ma Shakti. This spring navaratri is more a visceral, living experience than ritual for me as we are on retreat with my root teacher, Daniel Odier, immersed in the movement meditation of Tandava four hours a day with Matsyendranath visualizations and Daniel's penetrating transmissions, lightness and humor. The space is amazing up in the mountains overlooking the sea. He will be at Exhale this weekend - you can come for one day or both!

If you are part of the spring living yoga sadhana group, we are adding a meditation this Sunday, April 1st culminating the Spring Navaratri. Shakti Fest - the Spring Bhakti Fest - is coming up as well as the Shakti Sadhana for women and Bom Siva for Men.

For the Yoga Trance Dance teacher training, we will be including my sessions in the Tadasana Festival which also includes a special offering to the ocean for Earth Day.
Yoga Energy Activism is till happening for Earth Day!  Check out new dates below for San Francisco and Washington D.C. for the Summer Solstice.

I am still in the labor of a long creative project that is slowly birthing itself over these next six weeks. The last part is the longest and most patient.

Our dear friend Chris Tompkins is going to Kashmir for a very important mission to copy never-before translated texts. If you have been moved by the wisdom of this tradition, please support his mission!

My deepest respect to all your creative endeavors and the sustaining power required.

Love All Ways!

Breath comes out, breath comes in, sinuous in itself.
Perfectly tuned to the breath, Kundalini, the Great Goddess, rises up.

She is the highest place of pilgrimage.

Spring Blessings from Maya Tulum!

Thursday, March 22, 2012
Dear Friends,

We have been meditating with the rising sun every morning over the ocean with our group from different parts of the world on retreat in Tulum. Some mornings the clouds are dark over the horizon and the sun light pierces through the back of the clouds to then fully emerge in a full circle of light. Other mornings, the blazing red fullness rises unobstructed in full glory.

Every morning gives a different teaching about the play of what is emerging even though obscured from our view. The play of shadow and light is what created the visual darshan (seeing through) of Kulkulkan - the Serpent of Light that emerged yesterday from the core of Chitzen Itza. Over an hour and a half the shadow on the Spring Equinox gradually shifts till the shadow from the jagged pyramid makes the shape of the serpent. When the triangles touch the stairs, people (mainly from all over Mexico) who are gathered raise their arms overhead like a spontaneous prana mudra.

Our group, with our guide Ochos, blew the conch for the four directions. We were ecstatic, hot and tired all at the same time, but it was the most powerful journey to feel the Spring Equinox illuminated through time that this seventh wonder of the New World created as the last pyramid of the Mayan civilization.

The people here again and again emphasize the commercialization of the Doomsday prophesy. The cycle renews itself and these important junctures of the Solstices and Equinoxes recognized by the Mayans and our ancestors is a way to remember this in deep time.

Spring Navaratri begins with the new moon today honoring the creative power of Shakti for the next ten days.  I will be offering Shakti sadhana at Exhale and at SHAKTI Fest - the spring version of Bhakti Fest. This is a very special festival of living Bhakti.  Please join us there with many other great souls here and all of the amazing festivals coming up.

We are working with Exhale to try to offer one-day passes for Daniel Odier (more soon).

Love from el corazon de feugo,

Shiva

Spring Time Musings

Wednesday, March 14, 2012
Dear Friends,

Thank you to all of the participants in the Renewal of the Inner Fire retreat and local friends who came to class at Exhale.  I will be back in two weeks to celebrate Daniel Odier's return to California. This will be an intimate opportunity to be with Daniel so please register if you haven't already for this special workshop.
The rebirth of Spring is a week away - the three month marker of the new year and the half-way point of the Uttarayana cycle of increasing light. May we all stay grounded and dedicated to the creative field at this time. We will have a special Spring Equinox - Fall Equinox Living Yoga Sadhana program for the next 6 months to support each other during this most fertile time.

Chitzen Itza pilgrimage begins tomorrow for us...
We will send you some posts from Tulum.
Love all ways,

Shiva

Daniel Odier Tandava Retreat: March 27 - 30

I venerate the spontaneous, tremoring, and wonderful words of my master who had me cross the Ocean of doubt.
May this jewel of knowledge lead all people to reach the true nature of reality, and may they keep this jewel in the deepest part of their heart.
- Spandakarikas verse 52, Daniel Odier

Don't miss this opportunity to be with this amazing teacher and transmitter of Lalita Devi's lineage - Daniel is rarely in the U.S.  His incredible translation of the Yoga Spanda Karika and Vijnana Bhairava Tantra, as well Tantric Quest and Desire have fertilized many people's path. The retreat will be held in an amazing private home above Solstice Canyon in Malibu  overlooking the mountains and the sea. It is a place of natural meditation, deep spaciousness and the absolute quiet of nature. During the week will go deeper into the sahaja practice of Tandava as well as Tantric meditations. The weekend will be a continuation of that process so please sign-up for both or join us at Exhale if you cannot make the deeper retreat for the week.

Daniel Odier (www.danielodier.com) teaches Kashmiran tantra from the Kaula tradition in accordance with the transmission he received from his master, the yogi Lalita Devi. This lineage goes back to the Mahasiddhas, and in particular to Matsyendranath, author of the Kaulajnananirna tantra.

This age-old tradition, closely linked to the shivaism of the Indus valley, teaches a form of yoga which has now virtually disappeared. It is a practice in three parts which unites sitting meditation with movement.
